Our History >
Summer 1997 - Our first unofficial season for the Walnut Creek YMCA swim team was launched. Kimberley Furbush was asked to coach 13 swimmers from the YMCA Lesson program. We attended two meets at Riverfront Y and Ankeny Y.
 


 


 


 


    

1997-1998 Season – The Walnut Creek Swim Team became official.
 
Summer 1998 - The Walnut Creek Swim Team joined the Central Hawkeye Conference.
 
1998-1999 Season – The Walnut Creek Swim Team entered the technology age with computerized meet management.
 
2000-2001 Season – For the first time nine Walnut Creek swimmers qualified and chose to swim at the MYAS Midwest Regional Swim Meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center in Minneapolis.
 
2001-2002 Season – Waukee YMCA swimmers joined our swim team program, and we offered practices at both Waukee and Walnut Creek.
 
2004-2005 Season – We had our largest team yet as 144 swimmers signed up.
 
2005-2006 Season – Waukee YMCA started their own swim team. We remained strong with 107 swimmers.
 
Summer 2006 – The Walnut Creek Swim Team joined the Central Iowa Swim Conference.
 
2007-2008 Season – Debut of the long-awaited Swim Team Website!
